9th Annual Brian Kane Wiffle ball a Success!

Our prayers for Sunshine were answered with a perfect day for the sport of Tournament level Wiffle
Ball. Over 80 teams traveled from the corners of New England and 1 med student flew from Stanford
to buttress his team.

Many local teams made the round of playoffs including last years champion, TEEMO Galvin, but the
tops spots this year went to The Ego Squad & WAAAYBACK, from Framingham & Westboro respectively;
each received trophies and a cash prize.

Greg Garten, Norwood, took home Big Papi’s Nagano Bat and the impressive trophy as this year’s
Home Run King. CJ Bassett of Groton won the inaugural round of Double Down by hitting throwing to
the target at nearly 65’; he won a Hideo Okajima autographed baseball, cash and other misc gifts.

The Brian Kane tournament is widely acclaimed as one of the most “player friendly” tournaments
anywhere; some teams have been every year. This favorable reputation is the result of the
indefatigable cadre of volunteers. Fields are built, tents are erected, players registered, players
equipped and players are fed. But more than the labor, everyone focuses on the needs of the players
and everything is done to make their stay in Groton memorable. The volunteers are the heart and
engine of our success, we can’t thank them all enough.

Several Grotonians need specific recognition; Ben Aiken & David Boisse for bidding up the auction
items; Alicia & Katie Black for the deconstruction of the fields and finally Paul Wilson, the Fowl
Gourmet, for his grilled pullet surprise.

Thanks to all the individuals across our small but warm town for your support and for keeping a piece of
Brian in your hearts.

Most Sincerely,

The Kane Family
